Hello! I'm Xin and I am a graduate student studying Public Policy and Management - Data Analytics at the Heinz College of Carnegie Mellon University. I am currently sharpening my skills in data mining, machine learning, statistic modeling, and computer programming. I hope to apply my expertise in public interest technology by utilizing data to develop products and services that are culturally-sensitive, accessible, and human-centered in the healthcare, education, and environmental justice space.

I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychological & Brain Sciences. I also completed a second major in Japanese Language & Culture. In addition to my coursework for my two majors, I took classes in UX research, interaction design, and web development as well. Post-graduation, I took on a fellowship with Coding it Forward, and interned as a UX design fellow at the Department of Technology and Innovation of the City of Long Beach, CA to design a technological tool to support the city in meeting their climate action goals. Following the fellowship, I held a position as a mental health outreach specialist and training coordinator at Chinese-American Planning Council in New York City to spread mental health awareness in the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

In my free time, you can find me doodling, climbing, vibing to groovy music, and reading. I enjoy reading the works of Japanese women writers. One of my all-time favorites is Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto.
